Nevaeh Gomez Killed in Scooter Head-On Crash on East Pleasant Valley Road [OXNARD, CA]

Jacob Caliboso Arrested for DUI after Fatal Head-On Crash on East Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard

 
OXNARD, CA (June 22, 2020) – A 7-year-old girl who died in a scooter head-on crash Monday evening has been identified as Nevaeh Gomez of Oxnard.
 
The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on East Pleasant Valley Road, just west of Hailes Road.
 
Gomez was riding on the back of a 2013 Yamaha scooter, driven by 55-year-old Elva Andrade of Camarillo. Andrade was the girl’s grandmother.
 
Andrade had been traveling eastbound on Pleasant Valley at the time. She and Gomez both wore helmets, CHP officials said.
 
Jacob Caliboso, 21, of Oxnard, was driving a 2016 Acura TLX sedan westbound on Pleasant Valley when he crossed the center line and hit the scooter head-on.
 
The impact caused fatal injuries on Andrade. She died at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed Gomez to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries, then later transferred her to a hospital in Los Angeles, officials said.
 
Despite life-saving measures, Gomez did not survive and was pronounced dead Tuesday.
 
Meanwhile, Caliboso was not injured. Police determined that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. They arrested him on DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
 
A GoFundMe page seeks to raise $15,000 for Gomez and Andrade’s funeral expenses.
