Two Killed after SUV Crashed into Semi-Truck on Kays Road and Lateral A

 
WAPATO, WA (June 25, 2020) — Two people were killed after an SUV crashed into a semi truck on Kays Road and Lateral A Road near Parker on Wednesday, June 24.
 
The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. when a small SUV struck a commercial truck hauling sulfuric acid.
 
Yakima County Sheriff’s Office said that the SUV moved west on Kays Road when it failed to yield at the stop sign at Lateral A.
 
The SUV collided into the commercial truck, which moved southbound on Lateral A. It spun several times, then rolled over and burst into flames.
 
According to deputies, the driver and passenger were trapped inside the SUV and dead when emergency responders arrived.
 
The commercial truck slid and overturned onto its top in the incident, the sheriff’s office stated. The driver sustained minor injuries. There was no sulfuric acid leak from the truck.
 
According to the sheriff’s office, they have tentatively identified the two people who died in the incident. However, their identities were not yet released pending notification of their loved ones.
 
Officials shut down the road for most of the afternoon but reopened about 5:00 p.m.
