Authorities Identifies the Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run Crash on 80 Freeway near Greenback Lane
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 21, 2020) – The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office released the name of the woman who died in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning on 80 Freeway.
The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. just west of Greenback Lane.
Shanel Allyn Griffin, 39, of Sacramento was riding her 2011 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle west on the highway when she got involved in a crash. The number of involved vehicles was unknown.
Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she died 90 minutes later.
On Monday, the Coroner’s Office listed Griffin’s death as a hit-and-run case.
CHP officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved. They asked anyone with further information to call 916-348-2300.
