29-Year-Old Aromas Man Dies after Crashing Head-On with Semi Truck on Highway 129
SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, CA (June 22, 2020) – A man died following a head-on crash Monday morning in San Juan Bautista, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. on Highway 129, just west of Highway 101.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver 2018 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Highway 129 when it crossed a double-yellow line for unknown reasons. It then collided head-on with a Peterbilt tractor trailer that was heading eastbound.
As a result, the driver of the Civic died at the scene. The San Benito County Coroner’s Office identified him as Mitchel Kraft, 29, of Aromas.
The driver of the semi truck, a 45-year-old Watsonville man, was not injured.
The CHP noted neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected as factors, but the incident remains under investigation. They asked anyone with information to contact CHP Officer K. Kline at 408-848-2324.
We hope the loved ones of Mitchel Kraft are surrounded by steadfast and comforting support during this difficult time.
