GRANT COUNTY, WA (June 19, 2020) – Authorities identified 84-year-old Delbert Chase of Moses Lake as the man killed in a semi-truck crash on Highway 17, Friday.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened near Coulee City. For reasons still under investigation, a westbound 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup failed to yield to a northbound semi-truck. Then, the pickup truck collided with the semi near Road 2.

Emergency crews transported Chase and his 82-year-old wife to the hospital. Responders attempted to request for a Life Flight to airlift Mr. Chase to Harborview Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 27-year-old semi-truck driver did not sustain injuries and cooperated with investigators.

WSP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
