Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Fir Avenue [Moreno Valley, CA]

Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Fir Avenue near Cognac Lane

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 22, 2020) — A pedestrian was fatally struck on Fir Avenue near Cognac Lane in Moreno Valley on Sunday, June 21.
 
Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Kaas said that at around 2:00 a.m., they received reports of an injured pedestrian down in the middle of the roadway.
 
When officials arrived, they discovered a severely injured pedestrian in the roadway who have been struck by a car.
 
Officials transported the pedestrian to an area hospital with major injuries. However, despite life-saving efforts, the victim later died of sustained injuries.
 
The victim’s identity was not immediately available pending notification of loved ones.
 
During the on-scene investigation, deputies temporarily closed Fir Avenue and diverted all vehicles from the scene. The roadway reopened at about 5 a.m.
 
Deputies are still looking for the driver who fled the scene after fatally hitting the pedestrian. They have not yet determined if impairment contributed to the fatal incident.
