2 Infants Killed, 1 Airlifted in Rollover Crash on 10 Freeway near Cook Street

 
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (June 19, 2020) – Two infants died following a rollover crash late Friday evening in Thousand Palms.
 
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on 10 Freeway near Cook Street exit.
 
According to CalFire, an SUV was traveling eastbound on the freeway when it bounced off the center divider and overturned on its roof. A total of seven victims were injured, at least one was ejected from the vehicle.
 
First responders pronounced two infants dead at the scene. A third infant suffered serious injuries. Mercy Air flown the badly injured patient to an area hospital.
 
A ground ambulance transported the other four victims to the hospital with moderate injuries.
 
The Riverside County Coroner’s office identified the two deceased victims as Jeremiah Toomer, 2, and Alia Toomer, 6, of Bothell, Washington.
 
Authorities shut down the eastbound freeway lanes during the rescue operation. All lanes were reopened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
