2 Die in Car Crash on 72nd Street East [WALLER, WA]

Rollover Crash in Waller Kills Two 19-Year-Olds

 
WALLER, WA (June 22, 2020) — Two young adults died in a car crash on 72nd Street East in Waller early Thursday morning.
 
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the victims are a 19-year-old male and a 19-year-old female.
 
The deputies reportedly saw a 1994 Honda Civic speeding on 96th Street in Tacoma and tried to have the driver pull over for a traffic stop. However, the driver sped off, going at more than 100 miles per hour. The police lost track of the car after that.
 
At about 2:45 a.m. the Honda was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed on 72nd Street East in Waller. Eastbound at 6000 72nd Street East, the driver failed to navigate a curve and lost control of the vehicle.
 
The Honda subsequently slid onto the shoulder of the road, then rolled through a ditch and up into a yard. It came to a full stop after slamming into a large tree.
 
The 19-year-old man driving the vehicle and the 19-year-old female passenger both died in the crash. Their names were not immediately available. Meanwhile, the cause of this fatal incident remains under investigation.
