Scott Burtness Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Red Mountain Road [HEMET, CA]

Menifee Man Dies in Morning Motorcycle Crash on Red Mountain Road near Cougar Road

 
HEMET, CA (June 20, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday morning in Hemet, according to the California Highway Patrol.
 
The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. on Red Mountain Road, just south of Cougar Road.
 
CHP officials said the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed while rounding a curve on Red Mountain Road. At the same time, a 2001 Dodge Ram hauling a trailer was turning in the intersection at approximately 5 mph.
 
The motorcyclist tried to avoid hitting the pickup truck but lost control. He was ejected before landing on the asphalt roadway and sliding into the utility trailer’s right side, according to the CHP.
 
Arriving paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
 
The coroner’s office identified the man as Scott Burtness, 32, of Menifee.
 
The driver of the pickup truck, an 84-year-old man from Kingman, Arizona, was not injured and was not arrested.
 
No additional information was provided at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
