Mario Martinez Killed in Rollover Crash on 280 Freeway [LOS ALTOS HILLS, CA]

Passenger Dies after Pickup Truck Overturns on 280 Freeway in Los Altos Hills

 
LOS ALTOS HILLS, CA (June 19, 2020) – A passenger died following a rollover crash Friday afternoon in Los Altos Hills, CHP officials said.
 
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on 280 Freeway, just north of El Monte Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling south in the far left lane when it lost control. It then veered into the right shoulder and overturned several times.
 
A male passenger in the car, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected during the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the hospital.
 
The Santa Clara County coroner’s office identified the victim Saturday as Mario Martinez Martinez, 33, of San Jose.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck, a man his 30s, was wearing a seat belt and only sustained minor injuries.
 
Crews closed several freeway lanes for the on-scene investigation.
 
CHP officials did not suspect alcohol and drugs as contributing factors in the crash.
