Jeff Marez Killed in Head-On Crash on Foxen Canyon Road [SISQUOC, CA]

Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing Head-On with Sedan on Foxen Canyon Road at Orcutt Garey Road

 
SISQUOC, CA (June 18, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash Thursday evening in the Sisquoc area of Santa Barbara County.
 
The crash happened just after 6:00 p.m. in the 4900 block of Foxen Canyon Road near the intersection of Orcutt Garey Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was riding his 2000 Triumph motorcycle southbound. He was unable to maintain his lane in a sweeping right-hand curve on Foxen Canyon Road. He crossed over the double yellow line directly into the path of a 2006 Honda sedan.
 
The driver of the Honda was unable to take evasive action and the vehicles collided head-on. The impact caused the motorcycle to burst into flames and the rider died at the scene.
 
Authorities identified the victim as 43-year-old Jeff Marez, of Santa Maria.
 
The driver of the Honda, 40-year-old Felipa Torrez Hernandez of Santa Maria, and her two passengers, sustained minor injuries. Paramedics treated them at the scene.
 
The fire extended into the brush but was quickly extinguished by a County Fire crew.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
