CHP Officer Injured, Ulises Briones-Rodriguez Arrested after Sacramento Motorcycle Crash
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 17, 2020) – A CHP officer sustained injuries in a motorcycle crash on 80 Freeway, Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 9:30 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a Chevrolet S-10 Xtreme crashed into a CHP patrol motorcycle at the Watt Avenue overcrossing.
Emergency crews then rushed the officer to a nearby hospital with major injuries. As per reports, the officer remains in stable and alert condition.
The Chevrolet driver, identified as 36-year-old Ulises Emmanuel Briones-Rodriguez, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers later arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
