Deadly Truck Accident on Highway 108 in Kennedy Meadows

 
TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (June 16, 2020) – Two men died in a truck accident Monday afternoon on Highway 108 in Kennedy Meadows.
 
A passerby who called 911 reported the crash around 12:30 p.m. on June 16.
 
According to police, a 2006 box truck carrying two men was traveling west on the Highway 108, just west of the Mono County line at an unknown speed.
 
The truck drove down the grade when it failed to negotiate a sharp right-hand turn in the roadway. It then veered across the opposing lane and collided into a tree and a large granite rock, causing fuel to leak into a creek.
 
The driver, a 47-year-old San Jose man, and his 29-year-old passenger, both died at the scene. They are believed to be employees of a moving company, according to CHP.
 
Authorities did not release the identities of the victims pending family notification.
 
The crash is still under investigation.
