1 Dead, 2 Injured after Car Crashes into Restaurant on Silver Lake Boulevard

 
SILVER LAKE, CA (June 17, 2020) – A man died and two people sustained injuries after a car crashed into a restaurant on Silver Lake Boulevard, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident happened at about 10:30 AM. A Ford Explorer was on the wrong side of the street, traveling at a high rate of speed. When it swerved to avoid another car, the SUV careened into the L&E Oyster Bar in the 1600 block of North Silver Lake Boulevard.
 
The SUV struck a man riding a Vespa-style scooter and a tree before ending up in front of the restaurant.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the rider on the scooter, described only as a man in his 50s, dead at the scene. Authorities withheld his identity, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Two people inside the Explorer, a 72-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized.
 
The Northeast Division of the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
