4 Teens Detained After Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (June 17, 2020) – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run on 17 Freeway off-ramp at Bethany Road Monday morning.
 
The incident happened at about 2:00 a.m. as per the Arizona Department of Public Safety officials.
 
A preliminary investigation revealed that a teen driver was driving a car, with three passengers on board, on 17 Freeway. While exiting the freeway, the vehicle struck a wall on the Bethany Home Road off-ramp. It subsequently hit the pavement and then struck the pedestrian.
 
The woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
 
Meanwhile, troopers detained all four teenagers occupying the car. They said they will file cases against the driver including DUI, aggravated assault, and leaving the scene of a serious collision.
 
The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
