2 Dead in Semi-Truck Crash on Highway 84 at Highway 285 [Española, NM]

2 People Killed in Fiery Big Rig Crash in Española

 
Española, NM (June 17, 2020) – Two people were killed in a semi-truck crash on Highway 84 at Highway 285 near Española early Tuesday morning.
 
According to the Española police, the accident happened past 6:00 a.m. near 1217 South Riverside Drive. It involved a Coca Cola semi-truck and a minivan carrying two passengers.
 
The minivan was southbound on the highway when it crossed over the median. It faced oncoming traffic and collided with the semi-truck, the impact causing a vehicle fire.
 
Emergency crews transported both occupants of the minivan to Española Hospital. However, they later succumbed to their injuries. Their names were not immediately available.
 
Meantime, the semi-truck driver survived the crash. There was no information, however, on whether the driver sustained injuries. The investigation of this fatal crash is ongoing.
