Teen Brothers Killed after Dirt Bike Crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (June 16, 2020) — Two teen brothers were killed in a dirt bike crash in Summerlin around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, June 12.

According to Metro Police Lt. Bret Ficklin, the crash took place near the area of North Pavilion Center Drive and Regal Mesa Avenue.

A witness in the area told police he noticed a white Range Rover turning left from southbound Pavilion Center onto Regal Mesa Drive. At the same time, a dirt bike moved northbound on Pavilion Center Drive at a high rate of speed. The dirt bike then struck the passenger side door of the SUV, police say.

Police said that both brothers rode the bike built for off-road biking. It had no turn signals, no lights, or any provisions to carry a passenger.

Despite medical intervention, police said the 18-year-old and 14-year-old brothers died at the scene. Only one of them wore a helmet, Ficklin said.

Ficklin stated that the driver of the SUV remained on the scene and cooperated. At this time, they do not believe intoxication played a role. However, speeding, lack of lighting, and lack of headlight may have contributed to the incident.

Police did not release the identities of the victims involved in the crash.
