1 Dead after Sports Car Crashes into Tree on West 6th Street near Mayor Eric Garcetti’s House

 
HANCOCK PARK, CA (June 12, 2020) – A passenger was killed after a sports car crashed near Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s official residence in Hancock Park, Friday evening.
 
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident happened at about 11:33 PM. A McLaren sports car was speeding near Irving Boulevard when the 31-year-old driver lost control. Then, the sports car crashed into a tree in the 4300 block of West 6th Street.
 
Both the driver and a passenger needed extrication and were transported to a nearby hospital. A short time later, the passenger was pronounced dead. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
The Los Angeles Police Department believes that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
