Jose Toro Arrested in Fatal DUI Head-On on Bena Road [BAKERSFIELD, CA]

Jose Toro Faces DUI Charge after Head-On Crash on Bena Road at Neumarkel Road

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 14, 2020) – A man was arrested following a fatal DUI head-on crash early Sunday morning in Bakersfield.
 
The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. on Bena Road at Neumarkel Road.
 
26-year-old Jose Toro, of McFarland was driving a BMW westbound on Bena Road when he allegedly drifted into the eastbound lanes. He then collided head-on with an oncoming 2003 Subaru WRX, driven by a 21-year-old man.
 
As a result, the driver of the Subaru suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities did not release his name pending family notification.
 
Paramedics transported a 19-year-old passenger in the Subaru to Kern Medical Center with minor injuries.
 
Toro was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Police later arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
 
Further investigation of the crash is underway.
