SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA (June 8, 2020) – Authorities identified 33-year-old Bryan Martinez of Oxnard as the driver arrested following a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101, Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 8:00 AM. A white Ford F250 pickup truck, driven by Martinez, hit multiple vehicles as the driver headed north on Highway 101.
After exiting the freeway, he attempted to flee the scene on foot and left his vehicle on the right-hand shoulder near Olive Mill Road. However, some construction workers on Jameson Lane detained the suspect.
Emergency responders transported three people to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with minor injuries.
A total of nine vehicles sustained damages in the collision. As per reports, Martinez deliberately hit the vehicles but his motives remain unknown.
Martinez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail. CHP added that additional charges against the suspect are likely. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
