Early Morning Head-On Crash on Edison Highway in Bakersfield Kills 1 Driver
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 14, 2020) – A 21-year-old man was killed following a head-on crash early Sunday morning in Bakersfield, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. on Edison Highway near Bena Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2016 BMW and a 2003 Subaru were both traveling in the east and westbound lanes of Edison Highway. For unknown reasons, the BMW drove into the wrong lane and collided head-on with the Subaru.
As a result, the driver of the BMW suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
CHP officials believe alcohol was a factor in the cash, which remains under investigation.
