Sanford Reed Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Monterey Avenue [PALM DESERT, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Monterey Avenue and Hovley Lane

 
PALM DESERT, CA (June 11, 2020) – A man was killed following a pedestrian crash Thursday evening in Palm Desert, authorities said.
 
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Hovley Lane.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was in the crosswalk when a vehicle struck him. After the initial crash, at least two other vehicles also hit the victim as he was lying in the roadway.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the pedestrian to Eisenhower Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
 
The coroner’s office later identified the victim as Sanford Reed, 25, of Palm Desert.
 
One of the involved drivers, a 26-year-old Palm Desert woman, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. She was later released, officials said.
 
This fatal incident remains under investigation, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
