Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway near Bay Bridge Toll Plaza [OAKLAND, CA]

Early Morning Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway near Bay Bridge Toll Plaza Turns Fatal

 
OAKLAND, CA (June 12, 2020) – A man died in a pedestrian crash early Friday morning in Oakland, authorities said.
 
The crash happened around 2:50 a.m. on westbound 80 Freeway, just east of Bay Bridge Toll Plaza.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was trying to cross the westbound lanes of the freeway when an AC Transit bus struck him.
 
Arriving units pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
 
Crews closed three westbound traffic lanes for more than two hours while they worked on the scene.
 
It unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
