PHELAN, CA (June 10, 2020) – Five people sustained injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 138, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 8:14 AM. For reasons still unavailable, a GMC and a minivan collided head-on near Sheep Creek Road. The impact of the crash caused the minivan to sustain major front-end damage, while the GMC sustained moderate front-end damage.
 
A helicopter landed near the Stater Bros Shopping Center and airlifted one person to an out of area trauma center with critical injuries. Updates on the victim’s current condition remain undisclosed.
 
Meanwhile, four other people sustained less critical injuries. It is unknown whether or not they needed hospitalization.
 
The crash blocked eastbound Highway 138 heading towards 15 Freeway.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
