Matthew Klausen Arrested, Two Injured in Head-On DUI Crash on Highway 50

 
ZEPHYR COVE, NV (June 10, 2020) — Officials arrested 23-year-old Matthew James Klausen, of Garden Valley, after a head-on DUI crash on Monday, June 8.
 
Officials responded around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 50 near Zypher Cove after receiving calls of a serious injury head-on crash.
 
The collision happened when Klausen’s vehicle, a 2016 Honda Civic, reportedly crossed the centerline into the path of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma.
 
Both drivers suffered serious injuries and medics airlifted both to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
 
Klausen was medically cleared and booked at 11:40 p.m. Monday. According to Douglas County Jail records, he faces charges of driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm and carrying a concealed weapon. In addition, he also faces a charge of driving left of the center lane.
 
Officials shut down the road for more than an hour with one lane opening in each direction at around 9 p.m.
