Paul Lissona Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Mesa Rock Road near Mesa Ranch Drive
ESCONDIDO, CA (June 6, 2020) – A female teen died following a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in Escondido.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Mesa Rock Road near Mesa Ranch Drive.
CHP officials said the teenager was standing outside a vehicle parked on the right shoulder talking with four friends. As three of them crossed the roadway, a speeding vehicle struck the girl.
The vehicle did not stop without rendering aid.
The victim’s friends and nearby residents tried to help her, but she died at the scene. Authorities identified her as 17-year-old Kirsten Rain Tomlinson.
On Sunday, the CHP said they received a tip about a white Toyota Highlander matching the description of the involved vehicle. They confirmed it was the suspect vehicle and arrested 29-year-old Paul Anthony Lissona of Escondido.
Lissona was charged with felony hit and run, the CHP said.
An investigation is ongoing and additional charges were being considered.
