Driver Dies after Crashing Car into Power Pole on Highway 36E

 
TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (June 2, 2020) – A man was killed following a car accident early Tuesday morning in Tehama County near Mineral.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on Highway 36E.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle had crashed into a power pole for unknown reasons. The driver, who was believed to be the sole occupant of the car, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The Tehama County Coroners Office identified the deceased as 40-year-old Phillip Wheeler of Redding.
 
The crash also led to a power outage for over 38,000 PG&E customers for several hours.
 
Additional details of this fatal accident were not available at press time.
 
CHP officials are still investigating to determine the cause and factors involved.
