Driver Seriously Injured in Crash on Carancho Road [De Luz, CA]
1 Hospitalized after De Luz Crash on Carancho Road near De Luz Road
DE LUZ, CA (June 5, 2020) – A driver sustained injuries in a fiery crash on Carancho Road, Friday morning.
According to Cal Fire San Diego, the incident happened near De Luz Road, at about 6:40 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle went off the side of the roadway and overturned. The crash caused a brush fire which grew to around 50 feet.
The driver was able to exit the wrecked vehicle. A short time later, another driver spotted the crash and took the victim a short distance up the road. Then, the Good Samaritan called 911 and rendered aid to the injured driver.
Emergency crews requested an air ambulance but due to weather conditions, the victim was transported by ground ambulance to Palomar Medical Center. As per reports, the victim sustained serious injuries.
Firefighters were able to stop the forward rate of spread a short time after the fiery crash.
Officers continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
