Motorcycle Police Officer Injured After Colliding With Car in Glorieta
GLORIETA, NM (June 8, 2020) – A New Mexico State Police Sergeant suffered injuries in a collision on 25 Freeway in Glorieta Friday night.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the officer was driving his motorcycle unit southbound on the freeway at mile marker 303 in the left lane. At the same time, a gold GMC Yukon was southbound in the right lane. It made a sudden left turn, crossing into the inside passing lane, while the motorcycle approached the official crossover at mile marker 302, and the two vehicles collided.
Both the sergeant and the other driver received treatment at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. However, the sergeant was later airlifted to an Albuquerque hospital for further medical treatment. Officials said he is currently in ICU in stable condition.
The names of both drivers were not released. There was also no immediate information available as to the condition of the other driver. The police are still investigating the crash.
