Driver and Passenger Dead in Late Evening Crash on South Union Avenue near Ming Avenue

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 4, 2020) – Two people were killed in a car accident late Thursday evening in south Bakersfield.
 
The crash happened around 11:18 p.m. on South Union Avenue, just north of Ming Avenue
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway for unknown reasons. The left front of the vehicle then crashed into a chain-link fence and a cinder block wall.
 
As a result, the driver and his female passenger, were ejected from the vehicle. Both were not wearing seat belts and died at the scene.
 
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 23-year-old Edgar Antonio Martinez of Arvin. His passenger was identified 24-year-old Liliana Lisset Bautista of Bakersfield.
 
Further investigation into the crash is underway.
