Fatal ATV Accident near Lost Mountain Road [Sequim, WA]

Man Killed, Another Injured in Sequim ATV Crash near Lost Mountain Road

 
SEQUIM, WA (June 8, 2020) — A man died while another person suffered injuries in an ATV accident near Lost Mountain Road in Sequim Saturday afternoon.
 
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said they received reports about the incident at about 3:40 p.m. The crash was about two miles down a gravel road off 4000 Lost Mountain Road.
 
According to the witnesses, the ATV was following a group when it missed a curve and subsequently rolled over down a steep embankment. The force of the impact launched both the ATV driver and its passenger into the air.
 
The witnesses rendered aid to both people while they waited for the paramedics to arrive. When the deputies and paramedics reached the scene, they found the 26-year-old ATV driver unconscious and not breathing. The 43-year-old ATV passenger, meanwhile, was injured but conscious.
 
Despite efforts to revive the driver, he died in the ambulance while being transported to the hospital.
 
An initial investigation revealed that both the driver and the passenger were not wearing helmets or restraints. The two are from Port Angeles.
 
Meantime, the investigators said alcohol was present at the scene but did not appear to be a factor at this time. However, the investigation is ongoing.
