Edgar Martinez and Liliana Bautista Fatally Injured in Solo Car Accident
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 8, 2020) — A car accident killed 23-year-old Edgar Antonio Martinez and 24-year-old Liliana Lisset Bautista on Thursday, June 4.
According to the California Highway Patrol, just after 11:00 p.m., a 2004 Chevrolet driven by Martinez veered off the road on 1300 block of Union Avenue. Then the car struck a chain-link fence and cinder block wall.
The impact ejected Martinez and his passenger, Bautista. Both Martinez and Bautista died at the scene.
Officers later determined that both occupants did not wear a seat belt at the time of the crash.
It isn’t known if alcohol or drugs contributed to this incident.
California Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
