Woman Killed in DUI Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 1 at Channel Islands Boulevard [OXNARD, CA]

14-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured in Deadly DUI Crash on Highway 1 at Channel Islands Boulevard

 
OXNARD, CA (June 6, 2020) – A woman was killed following a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Oxnard, authorities said.
 
The crash happened just before 8:00 a.m. on northbound Highway 1 at Channel Islands Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2000 Lexus RX300 was traveling northbound on Highway 1 when it failed to stop and rear-ended a 2017 Nissan Rogue that was stopped at a red stoplight.
 
The impact pushed the Nissan into the center median while the Lexus went off the roadway and into a ditch. Both vehicles sustained major damage.
 
Firefighters said there were a total of three patients, some of which were trapped in the cars. Crews used extrication maneuvers to release the patients from their vehicles.
 
The driver of the Nissan, a 41-year-old Oxnard woman, died at the scene. Her name was not immediately available.
 
The woman’s passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was seriously injured. Paramedics rushed the juvenile to Ventura County Medical Center.
 
The driver of the Lexus, a 33-year-old woman, also suffered major injuries. Police arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence.
 
Further investigation into the crash is underway.
