Miguel Preciadonava and Oscar Campos Killed in Three-Car Crash on Highway 166 [SANTA MARIA, CA]
3-Car Crash on Highway 66 in Santa Maria Kills Two and Injures Four
SANTA MARIA, CA (June 5, 2020) – Two people died following a three-car crash Friday night in Santa Maria, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 6:00 p.m. on Highway 166 near Black Road.
CHP officials said Miguel Preciadonava, 20, was driving a 2004 Nissan 350Z eastbound at a high rate of speed, passing several vehicles. He then lost control and collided head-on into a westbound 2017 Nissan Altima, driven by 30-year-old Oscar Campos.
The impact caused the Nissan 350Z to roll over. It continued sliding eastbound and struck a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by 28-year-old Nabor Ortizlopez of Santa Maria.
The Cobalt came to rest on the westbound shoulder, while the Nissan 350Z ended up on the eastbound shoulder, where it landed on its roof.
Presciadonava and Campos both died at the scene. They were also Santa Maria residents.
Four others, including two children, were injured. A 5-year-old boy suffered major injuries with a lacerated spleen and lacerations to the face. A 6-year-old girl suffered moderate injuries to her nose and head.
CalSTAR helicopter airlifted the two children to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
The third passenger, 28-year-old Beatriz Estrada of Santa Maria, suffered pain in her lower body.
Meanwhile, Ortizlopez sustained minor abrasions.
The crash remains under investigation.
