Michael Liu Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on Highway 154 [SANTA BARBARA, CA]

Oscar Pereyra Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 154 near West Camino Cielo

 
SANTA BARBARA, CA (June 5, 2020) – A man who died in a suspected DUI crash Friday morning at the San Marcos Pass summit has been identified.
 
The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. on Highway 154 near West Camino Cielo.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck traveled across the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into a Hyundai Sonata.
 
The impact killed the driver of the Sonata. Authorities identified him as Michael Kai Liu, 36, of Arroyo Grande. He died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Tacoma, 61-year-old Oscar Pereyra of Santa Barbara, suffered major injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
 
Pereyra was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
