One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 580 Freeway at North Livermore Avenue [LIVERMORE, CA]

Afternoon Multi-Vehicle Crash on 580 Freeway at North Livermore Avenue Turns Fatal

 
LIVERMORE, CA (June 4, 2020) – At least one person was killed following a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in unincorporated Alameda County just outside Livermore, CHP officials said.
 
The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. on westbound 580 Freeway at North Livermore Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, three vehicles collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused fatal injuries on at least one of its occupants.
 
Authorities did not release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
 
One driver reportedly fled the scene after the crash. Livermore police are searching for that person, the CHP said.
 
Crews closed several freeway lanes as they cleared the wreckage.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs and/ or alcohol were contributing factors of the crash. The incident remains under active investigation.
