3 Killed in Plane Crash near Crafton Hills along Mill Creek Road [MENTONE, CA]

Fatal Plane Crash near Crafton Hills along Mill Creek Road in Mentone

 
MENTONE, CA (June 5, 2020) – Three people died when their small aircraft crashed into a hillside Friday afternoon in Mentone, authorities said.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:30 p.m. near the Crafton Hills, just above a water treatment facility along Mill Creek Road, also known as Highway 38.
 
According to police, a single-engine Cessna 172 went down the hills and crashed for unknown reasons.
 
Emergency crews assisted by a San Bernardino County sheriff’s helicopter responded to the crash and pronounced three people dead at the scene. The three victims were the only people aboard the aircraft.
 
Officials said there was little sign of fire or a debris field.
 
No further details were available Friday evening. The FAA, as well as the National Transportation Safety Board, are taking part in the investigation.
