Sheela Hawley Injured, Passenger Dead after Kelso Suspected DUI Collision

 
KELSO, WA (June 5, 2020) – A passenger died and the driver identified as 35-year-old Sheela M. Hawley sustained injuries in a crash on Wednesday, June 3.
 
At 10:30 p.m., Kelso police said that officers rushed to a reported solo-car crash in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue South.
 
At the scene, officers noticed a car that collided head-on into a utility pole. Both the vehicle and pole sustained damages.
 
Authorities found the passenger of the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, dead in the vehicle. Her identity was not released by police.
 
The driver, Sheela Hawley, survived the incident. Medics rushed to a medical facility to receive treatment for injuries.
 
According to the police, the evidence available to responding officers show that Hawley may have been impaired while driving.
 
The reason behind the incident is under investigation.
