Drivers Killed after Head-On Crash on Frazier Lake Road [Gilroy, CA]

Two Dead after Gilroy Head-On Crash on Frazier Lake Road

 
GILROY, CA (June 3, 2020) – Two drivers suffered fatal injuries in a head-on crash on Frazier Lake Road, south of Gilroy, on Tuesday, June 2.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:05 a.m. on Frazier Lake Road, at the San Benito/Santa Clara county line.
 
The CHP said a 53-year-old Hollister man driving southbound in a 2015 Nissan Altima drifted off the right side of the roadway. Then the vehicle hit the guardrail of a small bridge over an irrigation ditch. The vehicle then veered left, into the northbound lane, and collided into a 2005 Nissan Frontier driven by a 37-year-old Hollister man.
 
Both drivers died at the scene. Their identities were not yet available. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
 
Officials shut down the road until 12:30 p.m. for the investigation. The CHP said they believe both men drove about the speed limit, 50 mph. They added that alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the incident.
