Girl Dead, 4 Others Injured in Rio Rancho Four-Vehicle Crash on Highway 528
RIO RANCHO, NM (June 3, 2020) — A girl died and four other people sustained injuries in a car accident on Highway 528 Monday afternoon.
According to the Rio Rancho police, the crash happened past 3:00 p.m. Involved were four vehicles and six people.
One of the vehicles struck a pole, killing a young female and injuring another girl inside it.
A second vehicle overturned, causing its male occupant severe head injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and was in stable condition.
The other two vehicles had light damage. Their occupants sustained very minor injuries.
Officials ordered the closure of Highway 528 between Southern Boulevard and Barbara Loop while they investigated and crews cleared the scene. The highway reopened after several hours.
Meantime, the cause and circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
