Toniyo Atkinson Arrested, Driver Killed in DUI Crash at Lynwood Avenue and Mountain Avenue [San Bernardino, CA]

Authorities Arrested Toniyo Atkinson for DUI following Deadly Accident in San Bernardino

 
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (June 3, 2020) — A driver was killed and another person was arrested following a suspected DUI crash in San Bernardino on Monday.
 
A release from the San Bernardino Police Department indicated that 42-year-old Toniyo Atkinson of San Bernardino was driving a Chevy Tahoe when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Lynwood and Mountain Avenues. He subsequently broadsided a Honda Accord at the intersection at approximately 2:14 a.m. on Monday.
 
The person driving the Accord, a 37-year-old San Bernardino resident, died in the crash. The name of the driver was pending until after the notification of next of kin.
 
Meantime, the police said Atkinson may have been drunk at the time of the crash. They arrested and subsequently booked Atkinson into the West Valley Detention Center with a bail set at $100,000. He is under investigation on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
