Fatality Reported after Train Crashes into Car on Golden State Boulevard

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 31, 2020) – A man lost his life after a train crashed into a car on Golden State Boulevard, Sunday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 3:00 PM. As per reports, a vehicle did not stop at a stop sign and started to cross the tracks. Then, a Union Pacific train, which was going 30 miles per hour, hit the vehicle near Maple Avenue.
 
Emergency responders extricated the man behind the wheel and attempted to revive him. Unfortunately, he died at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
