Luis Echeverria and Chantra Sun Injured in Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 178 [SHOSHONE, CA]

Head-On Crash on Highway 178 in Shoshone Kills Three and Injures Five

 
SHOSHONE, CA (May 31, 2020) – Three people were killed and five others were injured following a head-on crash Sunday afternoon in Shoshone.
 
The crash happened around 12:21 p.m. along Highway 178, just east of Highway 127.
 
Authorities said, Luis Echeverria of Fontana was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche westbound on Highway 178. At the same time, Chantra Sun of Baldwin Park was driving a 2017 BMW X5 eastbound on the highway, approaching the Avalanche.
 
For unknown reasons, the vehicles collided head-on. Two passengers of the Avalanche and one passenger of the BMW suffered multiple traumatic injuries due to severe impact.
 
Responding emergency personnel pronounced the three passengers dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately available.
 
Echeverria, Sun and three other people were injured in the crash. Paramedics transported them to Las Vegas University Medical Center for treatment.
 
No additional information was provided at this time.
 
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
