Caitlyn Shaffer Seriously Injured after Highway 101 Crash near Barkdull Road

 
GARBERVILLE, CA (May 29, 2020) – A woman and a child sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101, Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 3:15 PM. For unknown reasons, a southbound vehicle collided with a delineator. The impact of the collision caused the delineator to become airborne, crashing into the windshield of a northbound 2011 Kia Sonoda.
 
The front passenger of the Kia, identified as Caitlyn Shaffer, sustained major injuries and needed hospitalization. A child in the back seat sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile, the driver, identified as William Legrain, and another juvenile rear passenger did not sustain injuries.
 
The driver of the southbound vehicle did not stop to render aid. Anyone with information should call CHP Garberville Area office at (707) 923-2155 or (707) 268-2000 as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
