66-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 at San Martin Avenue [SAN MARTIN, CA]

Deadly Morning Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 at San Martin Avenue

 
SAN MARTIN, CA (June 3, 2020) – A 66-year-old San Jose man died in a pedestrian crash Wednesday morning in San Martin.
 
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on Highway 101, just south of San Martin Avenue.
 
CHP officials said the man stopped his vehicle in the center divider for unknown reasons. He got out of his car and walked across the southbound lanes of traffic, possibly towards another vehicle that had pulled over onto the right shoulder.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of a 2012 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Highway 101 at an unknown speed. As the Corolla’s driver, identified as Thoy To Te Li, approached the man, he lost control of his car and struck the man.
 
The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His name was not immediately available.
 
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident. Authorities asked anyone with more information to call the Hollister-Gilroy CHP Area office at (408) 848-2324 and speak with Officer J. Christiansen.
