Truck Driver Killed in Crash near Signal Butte Road and Riggs Road [Queen Creek, AZ]

Man Fatally Struck by Car While Standing Outside Vehicle in Queen Creek

 
QUEEN CREEK, AZ (June 1, 2020) — A truck driver died in a crash near Signal Butte Road and Riggs Road in Queen Creek on Friday.
 
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the driver was driving a semi-truck westbound on Riggs Road when he pulled over. He then alighted from the semi to check on the trailer.
 
While the truck driver was inspecting his vehicle, a car that was westbound on Riggs hit him. The truck driver died at the scene.
 
The car ended up on its roof. There was no word, however, whether the driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene.
 
Meantime, the officials ordered the closure of Riggs Road between Ellsworth and Signal Butte Roads during the cleanup and initial investigation of the scene.
 
MCSO said there were no indications that speed or alcohol contributed to the crash. However, they are conducting further investigation.
