Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 80 Freeway near University Avenue
BERKELEY, CA (June 2, 2020) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on 80 Freeway near University Avenue overpass on Friday, May 29.
The pedestrian was struck by a Kia Optima around 2:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes of 80 Freeway. The person died at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the person or reported if the pedestrian is a man or woman.
The Kia driver stayed at the scene, the California Highway Patrol stated. At this time, investigators are trying to find out why the person was on the freeway.
Officers issues a Sig Alert and closed all westbound lanes while the CHP investigated. All lanes reopened about 4:15 a.m.
