Fresno Train Crash on South Golden State Boulevard Ends in Fatality

 
FRESNO, CA (May 31, 2020) – A man died following a train crash Sunday afternoon in Fresno County, authorities said.
 
The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. on South Golden State Boulevard near Maple Avenue.
 
Witnesses told officers that the man was driving a car and did not stop at a stop sign before starting to cross the tracks. A Union Pacific Train traveling about 30 mph then struck the car.
 
First responders removed the man from the car and tried to revive him, but he died at the scene.
 
Authorities did not release the identity of the deceased pending family notification.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
