Edmond Pritchard Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 166 [MARICOPA, CA]

Multiple-Vehicle Crash on Highway 166 near Pentland Road Kills 1 Driver and Injures Another

 
MARICOPA, CA (May 28, 2020) – Authorities identified the man who died in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Maricopa.
 
The crash happened around 1:43 p.m. on Highway 166 near Pentland Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a red Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on the highway between Pentland Road and Short Road. For unknown reasons, he drifted into the eastbound lanes and struck the side of an eastbound Freightliner Cascadia. He then collided head-on with a Subaru.
 
As a result, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Edmond Russell Pritchard, 63, of Bakersfield.
 
Paramedics took the Subaru driver, 63-year-old Karen Almas of San Luis Obispo, to Kern Medical for treatment of minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the big rig driver, Ralph Seeley of Chandler, Arizona, was unharmed.
 
CHP officials said Pritchard was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
 
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
