The California Highway Patrol said a car struck the man at about 11:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of 880 Freeway at the 29th Avenue off-ramp. The vehicle hit him as he crossed back to the shoulder after he painted a graffiti on the freeway center divider. He died at the scene.
